Japan lied about US nuke cooperation, admits it
The Japanese government has admitted that it lied publicly about allowing nuclear armed United States vessels to use its ports. Since the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan has been very sensitive about the topic, and they adopted their “three non-nuclear principles” in 1967.
A government report was released that said in part:
“The Japanese Government offered dishonest explanations, including lies, from beginning to end. This attitude should not have been allowed under the principle of democracy.”
I’ve use the word twice already, but this is the Japanese government admitting that it lied to its people, and that it was wrong to do so. This piece is not about the nukes…it’s about the admission by a government that it lied about a potentially serious matter.
Here in American, we have a Department of Homeland Security that is charged with the responsibility of spying on the citizenry and keeping tabs on those who know that our government is lying. Maybe this Japanese admission will start a trend…it is an interesting story, and you read the rest of it here.
